Excerpt that characterizes the All-Russian public organization of veterans (pensioners) of war, labor, armed forces and law enforcement agencies

A few days after that, on one of the charming holidays, who gave Helen on his dacha on a stone island, she was represented by elderly, with white as snow with hair and black brilliant eyes, charming Mr de Jobert, Un Jesuite A Robe Courte, [g Nazuer, Jesuit in a short dress, which is long in the garden, with the light of illumination and with the sounds of music, talked with Helen about love for God, to Christ, to the heart god's Mother And about the consolations delivered in this and in the future life, one of the true Catholic religion. Helen was touched, and several times she and M R Jobert had tears in his eyes and trembled. The dance for which Cavalier came to call Helen, upset her conversation with her future DirectEur de Conscience [Conscience Conscience]; But on the other day, M R de Jobert came in one evening to Helen and since that time he often began to be with her.
In one day, he reduced the Countess in the Catholic Temple, where she knees before the altar, to which she was supplied. Foreign charming Frenchman put her head on his head, and how she herself told her later, she felt something like a blow to the fresh wind, which gave her to her soul. She was explained that it was La Grace [grace].
Then she led to Abbot A Robe Longue [in a long dress], he confessed her and let her sins her. Another day she brought a box in which there was a communion, and left her home for consumption. After several days, Helen, to his pleasure, he learned that she now joined the true Catholic Church and that the dad himself learns about her and he would send it some kind of paper.
All that was happening during this time around her and with her, all this attention facing it with so many smart people and expressed in such pleasant, sophisticated forms, and pigeon purity in which she was now (she wore all this time white dresses with White ribbons), - All this gave her pleasure; But because of this pleasure, she did not miss his goal for a minute. And as always it happens that in tricks a stupid man spends smarter, she realizing that the goal of all these words and hassle consisted mainly that, turning her to Catholicism, take money from her in favor of Jesuit institutions (what her They did hints), Helen, before giving money, insisted that they made those various operations that would have freed her from her husband. In her concepts, the significance of all religion consisted only in the satisfaction of human desires to observe the well-known decency. And with this goal, in one of his conversations with the confessor urged his answer to the question of which her marriage binds her.
They sat in the living room at the window. There were twilight. From the window smelled of flowers. Helen was in a white dress, translucent on shoulders and chest. Abbot, well fattened, and a plump, smoothly shaved beard, a pleasant strong mouth and white hands, folded with a gentle of her knees, sat close to Helen and with a thin smile on her lips, peacefully - admiring her beauty looked at her face and staging his eyes on the question ranked. Helen was a restlessly smiled, she looked at his curly hair, smoothly shaved inars full cheeks and had been waiting for a new turnover of the conversation every minute. But the abbot, although, obviously, enjoying the beauty and proximity of his interlocutor, was fascinated by the skill of his case.
The course of the argument of the head of the conscience was the following. In the ignorance, the meaning of what you took, you gave a vow of the marital loyalty to a person who, on his part, enhancing and not believing in the religious importance of marriage, committed blasphemy. This marriage had no dual value that he should have. But despite the fact that your vow connected you. You retreated from him. What did you do this? PECHE VENIEL or PECHE MORTEL? [Sin of an excuse or sin mortal?] PECHE VENIEL, because you have done an act without bad intent. If you now, with the goal of having children, would come in a new marriage, then your sin could be forgiven. But the question again decays in two: the first ...
"But I think," suddenly rebuilding helen with his charming smile suddenly, "that I, having entered into a true religion, I can not be connected by the false religion on me."
DirectEur de Conscience [Conscience Conscience] was amazed by this preferably with such a simple Columbus egg. He admired was the unexpected speed of the success of his student, but could not refuse his works by the mental built-in argument building.
- Entendons No, Comtessse, [We will analyze the case, Countess,] - he said with a smile and began to refute the reasoning of his spiritual daughter.

Helen understood that the case was very simple and easily from a spiritual point of view, but that her leaders did difficulties just because they feared how secular power would look at this matter.
And as a result, Helen decided that it was necessary to prepare this case in society. She caused the jealousy of the old man Velmazby and told him the same as the first seeker, that is, he set the question so that the only means to get the right to her was to marry her. An old important person was the first minute to get married from the living husband, as well as the first young face; But the unshakable confidence of Helen is that it is as simple and naturally, like the girl's getting married, and affected him. If there were even the slightest signs of oscillations, shame or secretion in the helen himself, then it would be no doubtful; But not only there were no these signs of secrecy and shame, but, on the contrary, she told her close friends with simplicity and good-natured naivety (and it was the entire Petersburg) that she made a proposal and a prince and noble and that she loves both and afraid to upset And the other.
In St. Petersburg, the rumor was not allowed that Helen wants to divorce her husband (if this hearing would have spread, many would have rebelled against such an illegal intention), but the rumor was directly spread that the unfortunate, interesting helen is in bewilderment about For whom one of two she get married. The question has not been to what it is possible, but only in what party is more profitable and how the courtyard will look at it. There were really some kind of worshipers who did not know how to rise to the height of the question and saw the mission of marriage mysteries in this plan; But there were few such, and they were silent, the majority was interested in happiness issues that helen had suffered, and what choice is better. About the same, it's good or bad to marry a living husband, because this question, obviously, was already solved for people in the smartest of us with you (as they said) and doubt the correctness of the issue of resolving the issue meant to risk to shoot their stupidity and inability live in light
