Fallout 4 wear settler armor. Question: how to dress a settler in power armor

Go beyond limits in Fallout 4 settlements without a companion it is very dangerous. To have a chance to repel a surprise attack from ghouls, mutants or raiders, you will need at least Dogmeat. Of course, robots and people perform much better in battle, but even they are capable of little without improved armor.

As you gradually develop and explore new areas of Boston, it is important to monitor the condition and quality of your armor and weapons in order to be ready for any skirmish. Dress up a companion in Fallout 4 It’s not at all difficult, but finding suitable armor for some of them can be much more difficult.

Where to look for armor for Dogmeat?

The dog is the most unusual companion in Fallout 4. How to dress a companion, who is so different from a person and clearly cannot wear simple armor from his master? You need to look among the raiders for those who also rely on the help of four-legged pets. From corpses it will be possible to gradually collect a full set of reinforced suits. Then you need to open a dialogue with your pet, select the exchange option there and transfer the costume, collar and other parts to his inventory. After that, each element is individually selected and applied by pressing the English T button on the keyboard or using the mouse.

How to dress and arm people in Fallout 4?

The situation is much better with human characters. They can similarly transfer any costume, including purely decorative ones, as well as weapons into their inventory. You should be very careful and do not forget to replenish the reserves of the appropriate ammunition, otherwise in battle your partner will not use the new gun, preferring the standard one. It is useful to know that the initial barrel of any companion has an infinite clip and does not need to be reloaded.

Try not to skimp on your partners, not forgetting to swing their clothes on the workbench as well. The longer a companion survives in combat, the less damage he will receive main character. In addition, all special armor bonuses apply to any character. An interesting fact is that Codsworth can wear a bowler hat.

As you know, the most desirable and powerful armor in Fallout 4 is power armor. And there's no better way how to dress a companion in Fallout 4 than to give him the opportunity to put on iron. Even the weakest version of this performance-enhancing suit will increase the carried weight, defense and damage by several points, and will allow you not to worry about falling from a height. The only downside is the need to constantly change the nuclear battery, which lasts for about 40 minutes of real time. To order a companion to wear power armor, you should select an action item in the dialogue and point the mouse at the iron suit. Later in the dialogue, an option to exit the armor will appear.

Moreover, some elements, in particular the helmet, can be removed from the companion if you really like the way, for example, Paper looks. You can still give your partner an improved weapon, without forgetting to replenish your supply of ammunition. You can use any model and any modifications of power armor.

General Tips

  • When a menu asks you to press Enter, simply press E.
  • The Pip-Boy screen can be zoomed in by right-clicking the mouse (Back button if you are playing with an Xbox 360 gamepad, or similarly located (to the left of the central button) if with a gamepad from Xbox One).
  • To quickly get out of the terminal jungle, instead of repeatedly pressing Tab, you can hold this button.
  • The protagonist's companions and settlers do not change their equipment unless specifically instructed to do so. When you're in trade mode, give a companion the armor, highlight it and press "T" on PC or triangle on PlayStation 4 (Y on Xbox One) - the companion will equip the item. By the way, wear armor.
  • It's unclear whether this is a bug or whether the developers changed their mind, but the "lonely wanderer" perk works if your companion is a dog, although as intended it should only work if you have no partner at all.
  • You do not receive perks from companions by default. Now they are given for achieving maximum approval from the companion and remain forever, even if he is “fired”.
  • The perk, which allows you to shoot through obstacles in VATS mode, also allows you to shoot right through enemies, hitting something that otherwise can only be seen from behind or under certain conditions. Get into the turret control mechanism or power armor nuclear unit? Easily! In the second case, you will also experience a mini-nuclear explosion. You can also shoot bogworts in the head, even if it is hidden by the shell.
  • The “freeloader” perk allows you to find cartridges of all types, and everywhere, regardless of the location level. Don't be surprised if you collect strange cartridges at the beginning of the game: later you will come across "end-game" weapons for these calibers.
  • When hacking the terminal, look for the brackets ,(),<>, and (), with any content inside. If you click on the left bracket, the incorrect password option will either disappear or attempts to guess it will be restored. By the way, this also worked in F3/FNV.
  • Try to have several types of weapons under your control different calibers cartridges. Then the ammunition will not run out so quickly. If you're buying ammo, it means you're doing something wrong.
  • Some satellites can hack locks and terminals. Unfortunately, the “very difficult” level is not available to them.
  • A miner's helmet is an excellent source of light, much better than a flashlight on a Pip-Boy. But if you don't have one, set the Pip-Boy's color to white, then his flashlight will at least be useful for something.
  • VATS allows you to detect mines and hidden ghouls.
  • You can peek around corners by pressing the aim button. And, of course, shoot too.
  • The level of secrecy is shown not only by phrases like “they can’t see you,” but also by square brackets on both sides of this phrase. The closer the brackets are to the words, the sooner the enemies will switch to a different state, for example from “they can’t see you” to “alarm”.
  • There are only a few types of clothing in the game over which all pieces of armor can be worn, and the best of these costumes is already yours. This is a Vault jumpsuit. The rest of the suits simply do not have protective properties, or are incomparably worse.
  • Rename weapons and armor on the workbench, it's convenient. For greater convenience, you can put a space at the beginning of the name, and then the item will always be first in the list.

Power armor

  • It is important to understand that power armor consists of an exoskeleton frame and parts hung on top (they differ for different types armor). You can remove the armored parts from a killed enemy, but the frame cannot be removed. By the way, the frame can be useful in itself, because it sets your Strength to 11.
  • When you are wearing power armor, the simple armor you are wearing is not taken into account, and no bonuses from it work.
  • The “fuel” of the armor—the nuclear unit—is gradually running out, but it will last for an hour or two of real time. However, when performing any actions that consume action points (VATS, power attacks, sprinting, jetpack, and even holding your breath while aiming), the charge goes away much faster. Moving quickly around the map does NOT waste the block charge.
  • Your first power armor is an ancient ruin. It will become unusable from a couple of hits, the only thing worse than raider armor. To make your arms and legs last longer, you need to modify them. Remember that parts that become unusable are sent to your inventory and can be replaced on the fly if you have spares. To repair parts of the armor, you need to drive it (or even an empty frame) to a service station; unfortunately, without the armor installed there, you will not be able to repair the parts.
  • Remember that the game characters (except for the main character and his companions) do not know how to use power armor without a nuclear unit. Therefore, when you need to leave your armor in the middle of the street, take the nuclear unit with you if you don’t want to later fight with a random raider who stole your walking tank. A nuclear unit is like the keys to a car.
  • You can, on the contrary, “steal” enemy armor. To do this, you need to sneak up on the enemy and steal his nuclear unit. He will come out of the armor and it is yours. You can do this not with an enemy, but, for example, with a friendly paladin of the Brotherhood.
  • During the battle, your allies (the hero's companions and settlers) can enter the power armor standing nearby and remain in it. Do not leave armor with a power block inside in your settlement in the middle of the street if you do not want the settler to put it on when attacking raiders. By the way, if you want your companion to leave the armor, you just need to tell him about it.
  • If you need money, you can sell the nuclear unit. Moreover, the one with 1% charge left will be sold at the same price as a fully charged one.
  • New nuclear blocks can be obtained from generators, which are found in most industrial buildings. There are even more blocks in military locations.
  • Remember that power armor does not float, instead you will slowly walk along the bottom.

Construction

  • To attract people to your settlement, you need to build a “recruitment beacon”. The maximum number of settlers depends on your Charisma. The standard number of people is 10. Your charisma indicator is added to this figure.
  • All workbenches in a settlement are the common inventory of the settlement. You can put anything there, and settlers put their earnings and surpluses (water, food, loot) there. You can combine settlement inventories by connecting them with a supply line, but this will only combine "junk", i.e. Construction Materials. Everything else that you decide to put there will not be accessible from anywhere.
  • You do NOT have to manually sort through every piece of junk you find. Just throw all the trash into the workbench (there's even a special button for this), and it will be sorted out as needed. It may seem to you that unused remains from a disassembled item disappear, but this is not the case, it’s just that due to a bug they are not displayed until their quantity changes.
  • When building, you can lower and raise any objects by holding E and turning the mouse wheel.
  • Remember that you can move any item you already have, such as an inconveniently located workbench or dog house.
  • If you hold E, you can move not only one object, but also all others that touch it. This way you can move the huge walls and entire houses you have built.
  • Some bad places to settle can be made more suitable. For example, the Starlight restaurant can be freed from radiation by removing barrels of waste and an old car.
  • When you look at a settler in construction mode, what he is doing is highlighted.
  • One settler can produce up to 6 units of food, usually 12 plants. Also, one settler can be on duty at three guard posts.
  • Build a "garbage collection station" and assign a person to work there. He will gradually deliver various materials to the settlement's inventory.
  • To make your settlement less likely to be attacked, your defense level must exceed the sum of the food and water levels.

Crafting

  • Glue can be obtained from paste, which is boiled over a fire. The ingredients can simply be grown in the settlement, and clean water you can either collect during the game, or also mine if your settlement has access to water.
  • You can also create oil; for this you need to make a cutting fluid in a chemical laboratory. And yes, it will require a lot of bones.
  • You can “star” the materials you need if you switch to the “show materials” mode in the “junk” tab of the Pip-Boy. Then the game will mark items containing these materials so that you can immediately see what to take with you.
  • When you upgrade an item, its current modification will be removed from your inventory. If you place it on a workbench, then it can then be installed on the same weapon. It looks quite useless, but in fact it allows you to save a lot of materials, for example, when transferring modifications from regular weapons to unique ones. You simply replace your fancy modifications with the “standard” ones, and then put these fancy ones on a new weapon. Remember that modifications are sensitive to the type of weapon; a laser sight will not fit a plasma sight and vice versa. But what’s even more important is that you can use even those modifications that you are not yet able to create yourself. So the “gun fanatic” perk is not at all necessary.
  • Don't forget to cook the meat of the creatures you kill. Unlike previous games, here it heals better than steam packs, and even often has useful bonuses. For example, roasting two-headed deer meat temporarily increases carrying capacity.

Fallout 4 is an incredibly complex and addictive game (forget about dialogue for a moment) with a lot of unobvious possibilities. VG247 journalists have compiled a list of the most useful and fun things to do in the game, and we have selected all the most interesting ones.
Take care of your companion's equipment - you can even put him in power armor
You know that you can not only exchange things with your companions, but also equip them with weapons (you will also have to add ammunition) and armor? Just give them the desired item, select it in the companion's inventory and press the "Equip" button. You can even dress him in power armor, but be careful, something might go wrong.

Save during dialogues - or just exit them

Do you always want to be good guy? Avoid sarcasm, use quick saves in dialogues more often, or simply end the conversation if something goes wrong - one of the few advantages of the game's new dialogue system.

Build a Bobblehead stand and place it in your headquarters
Baby dolls found in the vast wasteland can be stored not only in the inventory - using the workshop, build a special rack in which you can display all the trophies found.

Assign settlers to beds
Typically, settlers choose the first bed they find to take a short nap. If you're tired of this, go into construction mode, select a settler and assign him a bed in the same way as you sent him to grow watermelons. On the other hand, you probably have more than one settlement; somehow they’ll figure it out on their own.

Don't place beds on bare ground
Surprisingly, the settlers don’t really like to sleep on beds that are simply on the ground - what if a rat crawls out of the ground under cover of night? Build a floor and everything will be fine.

Build a bell to gather all the villagers
Another workshop bonus. Do you want to gather all the settlers together? Build a bell, ring it and they will run to the call. If desired, you can arrange everything more solidly.

A water purification station provides clean water not only to the village, but also to you
Tired of drinking Yader-Cola and suffering from radiation? Build a water purification station in the village: it will supply enough water not only to the settlers, but also to you - the main thing is not to forget to pick up the water in the workshop.

Hold your breath while shooting
Got a rifle with a scope? Hold Alt and your shots will become even more accurate - until you run out of action points.

Don't forget about the stealth indicator
Those same brackets at the top of the screen - “[you have been noticed]”. The smaller the distance from the bracket to the inscription, the more noticeable you are.

Stealth improves accuracy
In stealth mode, your accuracy increases, the main thing is not to forget to switch back - the Diamond City guards may misunderstand everything.

Substances
A chemistry lab is an amazingly useful and creative thing. Why not make some fun substance with multiple effects?

Modify your armor already
Usually players try to pick up a more powerful gun and attach all the best to it, but they forget about armor. Meanwhile, she - especially the power one - also has a lot of upgrades: a jetpack, various filters and enhancements, bonuses to intelligence, radiation protection and much more. And a flashlight, yes.

Get a free S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point
After leaving the Vault and returning home, do not forget to go into Sean's room and pick up the book lying on the floor - it will give you a bonus S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point.

Develop your character wisely. Or without
At one time, Todd Howard said that a character focused on using V.A.T.S. would be incredibly strong - and this is true. But you can make the game much more interesting by distributing all the points into strength, endurance and luck, becoming a kind of Quasimodo cannibal with a platinum chip under your pillow.

Culinary talents will help you survive

Don't pass by the cooking station - there's nothing better than a steak oozing with radiation juices (not really). High-level food restores health quite well, but these recipes will not be available immediately.

Chat with your companions
You probably already know that you can’t romance Dog, but if you’re interested in your companions’ opinions about what’s happening, they’ll be happy to tell you everything that’s on their mind. Sometimes it's even funny.

Don't sell weapons and armor
Your settlement needs more resources! Drag everything you find to the base and save it until level 23, when you can take the “Scavenger” perk and disassemble everything found into rare components.

In the workshop you can select several things at once
Dragging objects one at a time is a very tedious task; hold the workshop button, select and move multiple items at once.

Charge the laser musket
This appears to be the only weapon in the game that can be charged more than once. Press R several times, turn the handle and shoot - your opponents will be unpleasantly surprised.

Use cover
Opponents (especially super mutants) will only be happy with your psychic attack in full height. Take cover and roll, it can save your character's life.

Shoot down grenades in V.A.T.S mode.
Did the raider throw a gift in your direction? Quickly switch to V.A.T.S. mode, aim at the grenade and shoot - it’s better to let it explode in the air than under your feet. By the way...

Shoot something that explodes
Cars, barrels, mines - all these are exactly the things that are worth a little shooting during a fierce battle. The enemy will be pleasantly surprised by the fireworks, the main thing is to have time to move away.

Don't forget about Dogmeat
Dog is just a cutie (no, no, you can't romance), and he has several useful abilities. To begin with, you cannot kill a dog; feel free to send him to open the traps. In addition, the dog can fetch things (including severed heads) and search for prey.

Rename weapons and armor
"Raging Lead Boner" is a pretty good name for a club, but you can come up with something much better. And remember about HTML tags in the title.

Buy a home in Diamond City
Are numerous settlements not enough for you? A visit to the mayor, just two thousand caps - and you are the owner of a townhouse with a patio in Diamond City (it sounds better than it looks).

Select the items you want to find
It's quite sad looking for copper, constantly scrolling through loot lists. Fortunately, you can help the matter: in the inventory components panel (C key), you can select items that are interesting to you - they will be marked with a magnifying glass icon.

Don’t forget to upgrade not only perks, but also characteristics
With each level you get a point, which can be invested either in one of the perks (most of them have several levels, you know?) or in one of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. characteristics.

Swing

There is no maximum level in the game; sooner or later you will be able to upgrade all the characteristics to the maximum level.

Don't forget about energy cores
Is your core about to run out of power? Quickly, take it out of your armor and run to the merchant - even an almost discharged core can be sold for a tidy sum. In addition, remove the core from the armor if you leave it unattended - NPCs can easily take your armor for a spin.

Collect armor and weapon sets with specific defense/damage
At the beginning levels you may not think about this, but the stronger you become, the more serious opponents you encounter, and sometimes it is better to prepare for battle in advance. A set of armor with protection from energy damage can greatly please a crowd of synths.

Don't waste copper on wires - install junction boxes
It is not at all necessary to stretch wires throughout the house - sometimes you can simply install a distribution box, and it will power all the objects located in one part of the building. But there is a problem - sometimes it is very difficult to determine which box belongs to a specific object.

You can steal an energy core from power armor
Carefully sneak up from behind, pull the core and the enemy will immediately lose all his power.

The last resident of shelter 111 found himself outside the strong walls, in not the most friendly environment. Each of your decisions will bring certain consequences; be prepared for unexpected encounters and finds in the wasteland.
