Samsung bada wave 525 section. Samsung GT-S5250 - firmware for another badafone

It's no secret that the lion's share of attention is paid to top-end smartphones, which amaze everyone with their sky-high functionality and equally sky-high prices. However, despite everything, sales are mainly formed not due to these miracles of technology, but thanks to touch phones from the inexpensive category. One of these is the Samsung Wave 525, which will be discussed in this article.

General information

We can conclude that this particular phone is a representative of the heirs of the once very popular Samsung Star phone. This conclusion follows from several characteristics that are visible when you first look at this model with the naked eye. Firstly, this is the model index. Wave 525 is designated S5250, while Star was known as S5230. The second argument in favor of this conclusion is the appearance of the device, which is quite reminiscent of the appearance of its predecessor.

However, there is still a difference between these two models. Samsung Wave 525 is manufactured on a more modern platform and also has slightly better functionality.

Specifications

First of all, it is worth noting the fact that the device is made in the form factor of a keyboardless candy bar. The Samsung Wave 525 smartphone operates in the GPRS/GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 bands. The phone is based on the Samsung bada 1.1 operating system and has the TouchWiz 3.0 interface. The display of the model is a capacitive matrix with support for the MultiTouch function, and the screen resolution is 240x400 pixels. According to the technical specifications, the phone has a built-in 3 MP camera that supports QVGA video recording and geotagging.

In addition to the built-in memory, which is 90 MB in size, the user can use microSD / HC cards in order to fully use the potential of the Samsung Wave 525 phone. The characteristics also indicate that the owner of such a gadget can safely connect to wireless technologies for data transfer . It is also possible to enjoy multimedia functions, which include not only basic set, but also provide the opportunity to integrate with the popular YouTube service and use the Find Music service. In conclusion, it is worth noting that GPS technology is implemented in the Samsung Wave 525 smartphone. And the dimensions of this model are quite small - the phone weighs 100 grams and its dimensions are 110x55x12 mm, which allows it to fit comfortably in the user’s hand.

Samsung Wave 525. Appearance and design characteristics.

At first glance at this model, you will notice a small candy bar with a large The materials from which the smartphone is made are quite practical. Plus appearance is that the back cover is made with a pattern of raised dots, which allows you to more successfully disguise the presence of scratches.

The controls are located in a manner familiar to touch phones. At the bottom of the model there are calls and a key with which you can return to the main menu. On the left side, the manufacturer placed the volume keys, made in the form of a rocker, and on the right there are buttons for locking the main screen and turning on the camera of the Samsung Wave 525 phone.

Reviews that are easy to find say that this arrangement of controls is quite convenient and plays a positive role when choosing a phone model. Connectors for charging the device and connecting headphones are located at the top of the phone.

Screen

This phone model uses a touch screen with a resolution of 240x400 pixels, which was already mentioned in technical specifications. The quality of the TFT screen used is decent for the price category to which the Samsung Wave 525 belongs. However, it should be noted that the only drawback it has is that in bright sunlight the screen becomes almost completely blinding.

The sensor is made using capacitive technology with support for multi-touch functions. The sensitivity level is quite high, which does not cause any inconvenience when using this phone model.

Battery

The battery life will pleasantly please the user. With a small number of calls made, however, taking into account the active use of the network functions that it can offer this model, the phone's battery can ensure the phone's operation for up to 3-4 days, which is significantly higher compared to phones based on Android OS.

Interface and main menu

In the Samsung Wave 525 phone, the screen customization is done at a decent level. The characteristics of the smartphone provide support for up to 10 desktops, each of which can contain an unlimited number of widgets. The setting is started by clicking on the button with the image of a gear. Also, the smartphone operating system allows you to support the notification area function.

Activation occurs by clicking on the status line in the phone's operating mode. In this area, not only messages about new events are displayed, but also quick control of phone modes, wireless functions, as well as the ability to quickly and comfortably control the player or receiver if they are working.

Phone lock screen

Please note that first of all it is necessary to carry out some preparatory work that will not take much time and will not distract from other matters. In order to prepare for flashing your phone, charge the battery to the maximum, and also install a program called “MultiLoader” on your personal computer or laptop. Its use automates the firmware process and will help avoid many problems.

Once the preparation is complete, you can move on to the process itself. In order to save your data and do the installation process software Even safer, remove the SIM card and memory card from the phone.

Put your device into data download mode. It turns on with the following key combination: simultaneously press the camera activation button, the power key and the volume up button. The combination must be held until a message appears on the device display indicating that the download has begun. At this stage, it is still possible to interrupt downloads and software updates by simply removing the battery from the phone.

Once the download starts, you cannot interrupt the process, otherwise it will affect its performance and disrupt the operation of low-level firmware. After this step is completed, the phone must be connected to the computer on which the Multiloader was installed. The program will automatically recognize the device model and begin the download process. As soon as the data is copied, the phone will reboot. Please note that if you follow these steps correctly, your phone will work again and will turn on again without any problems.

Finally

As you can see from this article, the Samsung Wave 525 is a worthy representative of low-cost smartphones. The developers have endowed it with good functionality, adding to this the ease of use of all the functions that the user deems necessary. In addition, the OS of this smartphone allows you to solve the problem of turning it on and losing its functionality quite in a simple way, which will allow you to save your time and money. In other words, Samsung Wave 525 is the smartphone that will be appreciated by users who put performance first.

    The phone itself is one advantage, it serves me as an mp3 player, alarm clock, dictionary, video player, internet, e-reader, games, camera, notebook, reminder of all important numbers, and of course SMS and calls, and all this every day, I charge Every 3-4 days I throw it in at night and forget, in the morning it’s freshly charged, and it’s charged in about 2 hours

    Excellent build quality; - very high quality screen (low resolution did not affect its quality): bright, saturated colors; - multi-touch I didn’t think that for this price it could be in a phone; - a good camera; - capacitive screen with very good sensitivity; - the battery charge lasts for a long time, even with active use; - standard program for reading *.txt and *pdf files

    Samsung is GREEDY!!! Very GREEDY, there is a GPS, but there is not a single application installed for the ZhPS, I bought it to put it on my phone, a Navitel navigator - 700 rubles. (works on the bad as stated by Navitel) without delving into the version of the bad, etc. and was disappointed in expectations (bada -1.1 and they are not going to update it in Russia - lack of support from Samsung younger models), in the end I use Yandex cards and consume Internet traffic, and if there is no stable GPRS, then there are no cards....

    1. You can complete many of the operations (for example, call, alarm, reminder) by holding down the button on finish, and sometimes it hangs and does not respond to presses, this is especially pleasing when you try to turn off the alarm. 2 Message melodies are only standard and there are 5 of them, the same with the alarm clock and reminder (though there are a little more of them. 3 Messages, well, that’s a different story, if you’re trying to respond to a message that came to you, it’s better to immediately exit and create a new conversation, because the answer is 1 line, i.e. 3 words, no, of course you can write more, but apparently you only have to type 3 words, and this is not convenient on this phone, T9 is the most disgusting, I just haven’t seen anything worse to change the word instead. buttons ask you to select it from a list, in the process of writing a message

    2 years ago 0

    I bought it for almost ten, now its price is something like 4x. =(((It’s impossible to listen to music and write SMS at the same time, because it starts to slow down.

    2 years ago 0

    at one time you can only open 3 java programs, but as listed above, I need at least 5, but this does not affect other programs, so multitasking is very large and does not freeze

    *Inconvenient player, no folder browsing. The tracks are all in a bunch, along with ringtones.
    *Very uncomfortable headset included.
    *Difficult to remove/move widgets (difficult to reach with your finger)
    *The supported video format is only mp4, and it is necessary to have the required resolution (however, Samsung Kies has a convenient converter from any formats)

    1. Bada. Phone programs are very hard to find.
    2. Glitchy.
    3. During a conversation, call the keyboard for tone dialing - dancing with a tambourine.
    4. Sometimes while listening to music he starts calling the last number.
    5. He removes the blocking himself.
    6. When viewing photos, you must hold the phone strictly horizontally, otherwise they begin to flip through themselves.
    7. There is no GPS as such. Normal - for sure.

    It freezes very often, especially on the Internet and when you listen to music (This is because the processor is weak). After six months of use, the left earphone stopped working (the headphones themselves work, it’s the phone that’s buggy). I’m not the only one with this problem, 2 other friends of mine bought this phone, and six months later their left earphone also died.

I recently found it on the endless Internet useful information and put it together. Maybe it will be useful to someone.....

Company Samsung

introduced budget class phones

Samsung Wave 2 And Wave 2 Pro with support for Bada's own operating system back in June of this year. After which the company filled the middle level with a telephone Samsung Wave 723. Among latest news from the Bada camp - the release of a full-fledged successor to Samsung Wave, which was called Samsung Wave II. In order to avoid repetition in pronunciation, the budget models that are already ready to enter the market decided to rename them - the new names consist exclusively of numbers. Thus, Samsung Wave 2 is now called Samsung Wave 525, and Samsung Wave 2 Pro (which adds a qwerty keyboard) is now called Samsung Wave 533.

Design: It is unlikely that Samsung Wave 525 will ever receive any award for its unusual design. Simple black rectangular shapes with chrome inserts and a rim around them are even more than a classic. The 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen has a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, which makes the interface and websites look slightly “skinny” and “elongated”, while visibility in sunlight is very mediocre. At the bottom is the Home button, flanked by the Send and End buttons. On the left side there is a volume control, a microUSB port and a 3.5 mm jack slightly higher, and on the right side there are power and lock buttons, as well as a separate button for the camera. By the way, it still remains a mystery why bada phones have a separate shutter button, while their Android counterparts have purely virtual camera controls.

Samsung Wave 525 fits comfortably in the hand, has small dimensions and weight.

Spacious 3.2-inch diagonal screen with a resolution of 240×400 pixels

At the back there is a 3-megapixel camera. By the way, the back panel is made in a slightly unusual Samsung phones manner. The glossy black plastic panel has been replaced with a plastic panel with a dot pattern, making the phone less slippery in the hand. The phone is very convenient and quite light. Its dimensions are 4.31×2.17×0.47 inches, and its weight is about 100 grams. Despite the specific pattern, the back panel is still susceptible to dirt from everyday use and fingerprints, but a simple wipe with a dry cloth helps in this matter. Samsung Wave 525 will be available in three colors - pink, black and white.

Side surfaces of Samsung Wave 525

Samsung Wave 525 interface.

The phone runs on bada 1.1 operating system under Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 user interface. You can read about this combination in any of the Samsung Wave 723 reviews; in the 525, no difference was noticed, except for the lack of some applications in the menu (the most offensive thing is the lack of Gallery). There is 100 MB of memory available, which seems quite acceptable for a mobile operating system of this class. In addition, it is worth noting that even with prolonged use, no lags were noticed, even for a split second, especially when scrolling, which is good news.

Samsung Wave 525 interface

The phone does not have a front camera, so there is, as you probably already guessed, no video call button on the keyboard or in the contacts application. Speaking of contacts, this phone's phone book has integration with social networks, which allows you to transfer contacts from Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and even Exchange, however, if you do not configure network data services, the contacts will not simply load over Wi-Fi

Text messaging and email apps contain almost all the basic features that are available on any modern standard smartphone, even text search. Typing on the virtual keyboard is quite simple and convenient, the layout of the keys is excellent in both portrait and landscape modes.

Email and messages

QWERTY Keyboard

By the way, several good games (such as Assassin's Creed II) and some other applications are currently free on the latest bada phones. Therefore, we advise you to take the opportunity to replenish your stocks before Samsung decides to tighten the screws on giveaways.

Internet

The Dolphin 2.0 browser is quite good, but it seriously lacks proper Flash support and some interface polish. Among the connectivity options, Samsung Wave 525 has EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and FM radio. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be easily turned on and off using switches in the notification panel

Dolphin Browser 2.0

Camera and Multimedia.

The 3-megapixel camera in the Samsung Wave 525 has a standard TouchWiz 3.0 camera interface, which is highly optimized for the touch screen and is easy to use with a wide range of functional characteristics. The photos themselves come out with decent detail and accurate color reproduction, but the lighting compensation isn't good enough for bright subjects. Pictures. those made indoors with insufficient lighting turn out to be a little “noisy”. The phone can also shoot video in QVGA format at 15 frames per second, but this is only sufficient for viewing on mobile devices. We've already talked about the lack of a separate icon for the Gallery app in the main menu, but it can be accessed through the camera interface. The gallery has built-in photo editing options for basic editing of just-taken photos right on your mobile phone.

Camera interface

The gallery app has built-in editing options

The music player is pretty decent. has many options for sorting songs, a music recognition service that can be launched directly from the application, and fictitious 5.1 SRS sound in headphone mode. The built-in speaker has a good volume for both mobile device, but at the same time the sound has some metallic overtone, which is present all the time when listening to music.

Music player

Video playback, of course, cannot boast of traditional Samsung codec support, as it lacks DivX/Xvid playback capabilities. The video player can only play clips with a resolution no larger than the screen resolution

Performance: Voices through the built-in speaker sound a bit distorted and at a relatively average volume, while everything on the other end of the line is heard loud and clear. Samsung Wave 525 has a 1200mAh battery, while the specifications do not indicate battery life parameters, but testing shows that two days of continuous pampering with this phone ends with a completely discharged battery. The indicator can be classified as average

Conclusion: Samsung Wave 525 is a decent budget mobile phone. Much of the phone's beauty lies in its bada operating system, which contains a rich set of features that were only recently available on OS/Android devices (such as image editing and platform-integrated music recognition applications). It is still impossible to judge how harmoniously this phone will look in its market niche, since the residual price has not yet been established, but let's hope that Samsung will not go too far with its pricing policy. For those just starting to get acquainted with the world of smartphones, this phone can be an excellent starting point - all the necessary basic functions, as they say, are “already in the box.” As an alternative and the main competitors of the Wave 525, we can note such phones as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 (based on Android with support for 3G speeds) or the budget smartphone based on Symbian Nokia 5250.

Advantages: built-in image editor, music recognition service

Flaws: low screen resolution, lack of DivX/Xvid support, lack of a separate gallery application.

Hello, today I will show you how to flash, aka Wave 525, there is nothing complicated about it. Every time I write a post about Samsung, I always try to first update the device’s software via kies and write about it, but nothing always comes of this idea, there are some errors, then the model is not supported, or everything freezes.

In short, I have never been able to update properly over the Internet.

Although this service was designed to make life easier for end users. Often, they bring devices that have stopped turning on after an unsuccessful software update procedure via the Internet.

But in fairness, I’ll say that for the most part, the user himself is to blame for this - either the computer rebooted during the process, or the Internet was turned off, or they didn’t wait for completion and pulled out the cable... But oh well.

So, what about WAVE 525 is another badafone from the segment of low-budget touchscreen smartphones. There was a time when this device was brought in “packs” due to the fact that during use it at one point stopped turning on, namely, it began to load until the splash screen and turned off, and so on in a circle. This is a firmware bug. Our device is no exception. So let's get started...

ATTENTION!!! Before starting software updates, rooting, resetting settings and other manipulations with your own or, God forbid, someone else’s device HIGHLY RECOMMEND read this one. In short, you have been warned and don’t say later that this is the first time you’ve heard this.

Samsung GT-S5250 software update.

For the firmware we need the following:

  • A device with a charged battery;
  • MicroUSB cable included;
  • Firmware - XEKJ3 regular or S525WXEKJ1, if you have LaFleur(S5250W);
  • Stitcher - MultiLoader_v5.64_BCOM;
  • Drivers - install kies (do not run this application when updating the software) or try installing;
  • Computer - I, as usual, used an office computer on WINXP SP3;
  • Time - 10 minutes for everything))).

Before getting started, save all important information from your phone to alternative data storage sources (if this is possible, of course).

Step 1:Enter the phone into DOWNLOAD mode by holding down the following buttons on the device in turn - camera button + volume down button + power button.

Step 2:Launch the MultiLoader_v5.64_BCOM application.

Step 3:This is what a running flasher looks like.

Step 4:Click the Boot button and select the BOOTFILES folder from the folder with our firmware.

Step 5:Click the Apps button and select the apps_compressed.bin file from the folder with our firmware.

Step 6:Click the Rsrc1 button and select the Rsrc_S5250_Open_Europe_Slav_Navi.rc1 file from the firmware folder.

Step 7:Click the Rsrc2 button and select the Rsrc2_S5250(Low).rc2 file from the firmware folder.

Step 8:Click the Factory FS button and select the file FactoryFs_S5250_Open_Europe_Slav_Navi.ffs from the firmware folder.

Step 9:Click the CSC button and select the file CSC_S5250_Open_Europe_Slav_Navi.csc from the firmware folder.

Step 10:Click the SHP APP button and select the ShpApp.app file from the firmware folder.

Step 11:Set all settings as shown in the picture above. Put your phone into download mode and connect the cable to your computer. First, the com port must be determined (387 in my case). Then press the Port Search button - the message should appear - The phone will be detected by the flasher only if the drivers are installed normally in the system. That's it. Now feel free to click on the Download button. The software update process will begin.

Step 13:The firmware is completed. The phone will be configured and it will turn on.

Step 14:Check the current software version by typing the following code *#1234# on your phone keypad.

Pre-Configuration Samsung GT-S5250.

Now we need to do the preconfiguration of our phone - the setup I talked about. I tried to make a video of the preconfiguration, but it doesn’t seem to work very well for me, so don’t scold me too much)))

Explanations for the video:
First enter the following code on your phone - *#5239870*#
Select pre-configuration
Enter another code *#27236*# in the Operator Code section and click Yes
Select region SER - for Russia
Save and exit
Next, you need to reset the settings by entering the code *2767*3855# - the device will reboot

So we learned how to flash .

P.S. If you encounter any errors during the firmware process or the device does not want to be detected by the computer at all, read this. It describes typical problems and errors that novice users often encounter.
