Saki mineral spring: the truth is in the water. Hot springs in Crimea Thermal waters in Crimea for swimming

The Crimean peninsula is famous for its gorges, forests, caves, “Russian Pompeii” (the ruins of Tauride Chersonese), rivers, lakes, and a 517-kilometer beach strip. Health resorts and thermal springs in Crimea are of no less interest.

Features of thermal springs in Crimea

Rich reserves of thermal waters are located in the Krasnogvardeisky, Pervomaisky, Nizhnegorsky and Dzhankoy districts. They say that the Saki thermal spring, discovered in 1956, can replace treatment in, and. The temperature of its water, extracted from a 960-meter depth, at the outlet is +43.5˚ (mineralization - 2.18 mg/l). It helps in the treatment of pancreatitis, obesity, peptic ulcers and gallbladder diseases, enteritis and gastritis.

If we talk about the Saki region, several villages deserve the attention of travelers:

  • Ilyinka village: the temperature of the water of its source (it is enriched with zirconium, bromine, manganese, boron, beryllium, zinc), located at a depth of 800-1100 meters, is almost +60 degrees.
  • Nizinnoye village: on its outskirts, at a depth of 1000 m, there is a thermal source (the structure is made of shell rock), the water temperature at the outlet is +47˚C (a hydrogen sulfide smell “emanates” from it). It is used in the treatment of infectious and pulmonary diseases, as well as gastrointestinal disorders. And local residents say that they cook excellent yeast pancakes with this water. It is worth noting that not far from the well a rural bathhouse was built, where even tourists come to wash themselves during the season. The bathhouse is divided into female and male parts, and healing water flows from a pipe located in it under the ceiling.

Evpatoria

The fame was brought not only by the mild climate, but also by the springs with healing “mineral water”, and the thermal water at the outlet is approximately +39 degrees. This water helps those suffering from gastritis, and also promotes the healing of post-operative injuries and the recovery of children from the consequences of polio (together with mud treatment).

It is worth noting that soon in Yevpatoria they plan to build a thermal complex at the address: 60th Anniversary of VKLSM Street, not far from the tram ring, since this particular area has hot spring wells.

Those who want to improve their health can take a closer look at the Severny sanatorium (the health resort helps fight ailments of the respiratory system, skin, nervous and other systems): it is equipped with a spa complex (there is a massage room, a mud therapy department and a balneological department with salt, pearl and herbal baths fees; those who wish are invited to try out the effects of a circular shower, Charcot shower and underwater hydromassage), a cinema hall, a library, a swimming pool with thermal water, a gym with exercise equipment, a football field, a nursery, a basketball and volleyball court. In addition, “Severny” has its own sandy beach with a shady area, fountains “pouring” drinking water, toilets, showers, rescue and medical stations (the beach is 500 m away from the buildings).

And 35 km from Yevpatoria, in the village of Novoselovskoye, you will be able to find a source with a water temperature of +53 degrees and a mineralization of 38.2 mg/l. This water is enriched with calcium, iodine, sodium, potassium, ammonium, bromine.

Mineral waters are thermal: they “spring out” from a well and have a temperature at the spout in the region of +55-65˚C. Local water, enriched with silicic acid, iodine, bromine and other substances, can be collected free of charge and in any quantity from the source.
Indications for treatment: hypertension, atherosclerosis, polyarthritis, consequences of injuries, polyneuropathy, endometriosis, keratosis, nephritis, eczema.

Village of Pyatikhatka

The village of Pyatikhatka is famous for its healing spring of thermal water, which “blows out” from a 1190-meter depth and has a temperature of +60 degrees. Its water is actively used by those who want to improve the condition of the skin and remove heavy metal salts from the body. In addition, it has antiviral, choleretic and diuretic properties. Well, next to the source, everyone will be able to find a temple in the name of St. Panteleimon the Healer.

Village New Life

The source in the village of New Life is radon and reaches +45 degrees at the outlet. For the convenience of travelers, a font is provided (presented in the form of a small pool with a thick pipe connected to it, which has a shut-off valve; hot water, or rather its splashes, form a cloud of steam at the exit), plunging into which is allowed both for medicinal purposes and simply for the purpose of to warm up thoroughly (it is comfortable to swim in salty iodized water even for those who cannot swim - it will push a person to the surface).

Those making their first session (due to poorly developed infrastructure, visiting the font is free) should not stay in the water for more than 15 minutes, especially for those who experience heart problems.

Natural springs have been considered medicinal since ancient times; in ancient times they were used as medicine and prevention of many diseases. In modern society, their healing properties have been scientifically proven. Next to them there are sanatoriums and health centers.

Crimea is very popular: magnificent nature and long beaches attract travelers and tourists. Despite the large number of natural thermal waters located on the peninsula, they are not yet very popular. Many of them are located outside the resort areas, so only local residents know about the location of the healing waters.

Geothermal springs of Crimea

The healing springs of Crimea were discovered back in Soviet times, but only now are they gaining popularity among the local population and tourists.

  • One of these forgotten sources is located near the village of Nizinnoye. Near this village there is an interesting structure made of shell rocks, where there is a source, the temperature of which reaches almost 60 degrees Celsius. Its testing showed a greater amount of minerals and nutrients than in the most popular Sahak spring in Crimea. Despite the fact that the source does not meet table water standards, local people drink this water without filtering, praising its healing properties. It is recommended to use it for sore throat, pulmonary diseases or intestinal problems.

Local residents built a bathhouse next to the geothermal source, which is now popular among residents of Crimea.

Among the disadvantages, the sharp smell of hydrogen sulfide and the corresponding taste of water are often noted.

  • Hot spring in Ilyinka was discovered through drilling in search of warm energy in the 1980s. The source is located at a depth of 1100 meters, surrounded by limestone (a material often used in the Crimea, almost equal to shell rocks). The soil around the source has a rust color, which is the result of evaporation. The water temperature is hot - 60 degrees, but there is no hydrogen sulfide in the water, but there is sodium chloride. The source is full of various metals and gases and is considered useful in the treatment of osteochondrosis and rheumatism.
  • Spring in Shchebetovo. This place with a warm geothermal spring is called “Water Balka”, and the water temperature here reaches 22 degrees. You can drive there with your own transport, but due to the unevenness on the road, it is advisable to give preference to SUVs or walk. The path leading to the healing water, filled with calcium, is a climb up beautiful steps covered with moss and a thin layer of water from a never-drying spring.
  • Village New Life located next to Dzhankoy, few people know about the hot spring here, the temperature reaches 45 degrees, the water is filled with healthy salts and iodine. For convenience, the spring is equipped with a pool with a pipe. Visiting this place is free, the plus is the lack of tourists, and the minus is the meager infrastructure. But the pool in this village can be used by tourists who don’t even know how to swim; thanks to the high concentration of salts, it is impossible to drown in this water.
  • On the Arbat Spit. This is the hottest thermal pool in Crimea. The temperature in the spring where you can swim can reach up to 80 degrees Celsius. It is very useful for problems with blood vessels and nerves, it is full of alkalis, sodium, and radon. It is not recommended for children under 6 years of age to bathe, or to stay in a thermal pool for more than 15 minutes. People with heart disease should be careful. The most surprising thing is that most of the visitors come in the summer season, but there are practically no people who want to bask in the hot water in the fall and winter.

Mineral springs

Mineral water is water that has biologically active properties, dissolved salts, and various microelements. Most often, such water is used for drinking purposes, but external use is also popular. Here are some mineral springs of Crimea.

  • Pyatikhatka. The water in the spring has unique beneficial properties, which scientists compare with the sources of famous sanatoriums. It is used as a diuretic and choleretic drug; it removes heavy salts, metals and radionuclides. Next to the source there is a large factory producing mineral water; tourists can buy bottles of mineral water called “Bishuli” on the spot.
  • Mineral spring in Saki They call it the Saki pump room, access to it is open, anyone can drink the water, next to the spring and near the pond there are statues created in 1932.
  • Near Lake Sivash. Driving through this area, you can come across several abandoned artesian springs; due to lack of demand, they form small swamps next to them. Scientists have not established the usefulness of water; it is known that it is filled with silicic acid, salts and minerals.
  • The village of Aivazovskoye. The spring is described as a spring containing sodium, bicarbonate, chloride, magnesium and calcium. The water is used for agricultural and domestic purposes by local residents. There are legends and stories surrounding the springs, of which there are a lot in this area, related to their healing qualities. Unfortunately, most of them are now abandoned and forgotten.
  • Feodosia. The city is developed with its own infrastructure and is known for its sanatoriums. It owes such a high rating to mineral springs, which are similar in usefulness to Essentuki. They were found in search of water for irrigating vineyards, at a depth of 60 meters, after analysis they were awarded the properties of mineral waters. Salty-tasting water helps with vascular and heart diseases. Also in Feodosia you can find other mineral springs - hydrogen sulfide, in which methane was also found.

This concentration of minerals, metals and salts can help with diseases of the liver, biliary tract, gout and chronic colitis.

In the old days, beer was made from water, which had a special pleasant taste and was odorless.

  • Kokkoz Valley. The spring called Adzhi-Su or Black Waters is a very popular place. The liquid comes out of 3 holes, 2 of which produce bitter water, and the third produces fresh water. The water in these springs contains bromine with some content of iodine, iron, scurvy and manganese. The point was opened in 1955; after some time, a health resort with swimming areas was built next to the source. Currently, a large sanatorium uses the water; it is useful in the treatment of osteochondrosis, skin diseases and muscle pain.
  • Yalta. There are 2 springs in Yalta, discovered in 2004 and 2007. They are located in parks; anyone can pour themselves some water or just take a walk in a cozy park and sit in the shade of trees.
  • Alushta. Not far from the famous resort town there is an Orthodox monastery where there is a healing spring. This is the territory of a reserve, and the monastery itself is located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. The source is called Savlukh-Su. According to legend, saints healed people with the help of water, charming it with prayers. Later, scientists found out the composition of the spring, and it turned out to be rich in silver and zinc ions.

Description of sacred springs

In Crimea, most of the springs are located on the territories of monasteries and are considered holy. Therefore, you can visit most of them for free and drink healing water.

Saint Luke was the founder of Orthodoxy in Crimea, he was also a scientist and, most likely, thanks to this, many monasteries used holy waters to treat diseases.

Most of the holy springs are located near the village of Generalskoye; there are 5 springs in this area that are worth visiting:

  • Ai-Vasil;
  • Ai-Alixy;
  • Ai-Yan-Petri;
  • Ai-Nastasi;
  • I-Andrit.

The most popular holy place is the Ilmensky Monastery. There are temples on its territory, and healing springs are located right in the caves, which cannot fail to impress. Another popular tourist place of Orthodoxy is the monastery in Bakhchisarai. In the past, instead of a spring, there was a water supply here, the water entered the monastery and was used for various purposes, now it fills ponds and fountains on the territory of the monastery.

Near the city of Sudak there is the holy spring Ai-Anastasia. It is located in the resort village of Novy Svet; it is a favorite place among tourists due to its beautiful views and healing properties of the water. Another source is located on the territory of the convent, next to it the Holy Great Martyr Paraskeva died.

For an overview of the source in the village of Nizinnoye, see below.

Mineral springs of Crimea known far beyond the peninsula. Many of the sources are hardly equipped, but work in this direction is underway. Tourists should still visit these unique natural and health attractions. There are about a hundred sources in total. But about a dozen are being developed and used.

Where are they located?

Geothermal and mineral springs are concentrated in the regions of the Steppe Crimea. Locations: Saki, Feodosia, Krasnogvardeisky and Dzhankoy districts. In total, three hydromineral regions are distinguished: the Kerch Peninsula, mountainous and lowland Crimea.

On the basis of some springs, hospital-sanatoriums and balneological resorts were built where patients undergo physiotherapeutic procedures and are treated with mineral water.

Description

The springs in Crimea differ in the composition of the water, its properties and indications for use. Let's look at the most popular ones.

Black waters

This is the most famous complex of springs in Crimea, located in the Kokkoz Valley near the Belbek River. It consists of three sources: the upper one with fresh water, the two lower ones with bitter-salty sodium-calcium water. Guests of the Black Waters sanatorium are mainly treated here.

Hot springs in Crimea “Black Waters” are called Adzhi-Su, and the water is used to treat rheumatism, bone and muscle diseases, thrombophlebitis and skin diseases.

Water is used to treat diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys and liver, and restore normal metabolism.

The Saki wells produce water that is similar in its healing effect and taste to the famous “Essentuki-4”. Effective in eliminating diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Holy springs in Crimea

We should also talk about the springs that are considered sacred, and the water from them is called holy.

Most of these mineral waters are located near the village of Generalskoye (outskirts of Yalta). These are the sources of Ai-Vasil (also a place of pilgrimage), Ai-Aliksiy, Ai-Yan-Petri, Ai-Nastasi and Ai-Andrit.

The Inkerman Monastery, which has several temples and a healing spring located in a cave, is revered by the inhabitants of Crimea. This place is considered sacred and dedicated to the holy martyr Clement. Located in Sevastopol.

Another holy spring is located in Bakhchisarai, on the territory of the Orthodox Holy Dormition Monastery. Previously, there was a water supply system here, through the pipes of which water from the spring was supplied to the monastery residents. Now the water supply is destroyed, and water fills the fountains and stone pool.

Another monastery that boasts its own healing mineral spring is Kosmo-Damianovsky, located in the Crimean Nature Reserve at the foot of Chatyr-Daga (20 km from Alushta). Local water has a great taste and has many useful qualities.

There is a sacred spring in Crimea, located in the Holy Paraskeevsky Convent, dedicated to the Christian great martyr Paraskeva. It was near this spring that the woman died painfully. The source is located near the village of Topolevka.

Tourists often come to the Ai-Anastasia spring near Mount Sokol to quench their thirst with clean healing water and admire the beautiful nature. The spring is located in the resort village of Novy Svet near the city of Sudak.

Many ancient monasteries with healing springs were destroyed by order of the authorities back in Soviet times. Now the era of change has come: Crimean springs are striving to restore and return their original appearance to sacred places. Soon everyone will be able to make a pilgrimage to holy places, quench their thirst and restore their health thanks to the healing waters of the Crimean mineral springs.

Nizinnoye is a small village in the Saki district at the beginning of the road connecting the highway to Krasnoperekopsk and Armyansk with the Evpatoria highway through the village of Krymsky. This small settlement would not be known at all if not for one of its attractions: a well of pressurized thermal waters, located 480 meters from the turn of the road before the entrance to the village from the Krasnoperekopskaya Highway, behind the rural cemetery. The abundantly flowing stream of the high-pressure Evpatoria-Novoselovsky artesian basin, rich in water resources, rises to the surface from almost a kilometer deep. According to the locals, the well was drilled in 1984. The water feels 45 degrees to the touch (the Internet specifies: 47), has a faint smell of hydrogen sulfide, and is used in the shower located 95 meters from the well.

The bathhouse building (45° 12.595"N 33° 54.696"E) was built of shell rock without plastering and looked completely unpresentable. About 6 years ago, when I first came here, it resembled a barn. Everything looked no better inside: the tiles of the interior lining of the premises covered with a brown-rusty coating of mineral water and the completely rusted pipelines made a depressing impression. Over time, the capital structure and water-bearing communications fell into almost complete disrepair and on May 13, 2017, repairs began here, which I found during my second visit to this place (see photo).
The well itself (45° 12.647"N 33° 54.672"E) is hidden under a small but powerful reinforced concrete structure made of foundation blocks, the entrance to which is closed by a metal door, and the roof is made of hollow-core floor slabs. From the well head located inside, a pipe, closed with a valve, extends to the shower room and the main pipeline with a shut-off valve simply throws water in a northerly direction onto the ground, where it spreads across the steppe, more than 100 meters long, in a puddle, swamping the adjacent ground. Everything, both the stones with pieces of concrete under the stream of water, and the inner surface of the booth protecting the well, have a rich brown tint.
There are no signs, equipped entrances or any additional amenities in these places; just a well, just a building for a shower (bath) and the thermal water of the Crimean depths that we get for free.
